With Mer-divers, you can take your first steps into the world of mermaiding and keep learning all the way to a certified instructor.

Become a pro!
PADI Mermaid Instructor™ Course lets you turn your passion into a profession. A PADI instructor qualification opens the door to working with mermaiding all around the world.
The instructor course includes an instructor manual, lectures and business mentoring, water rescue skills, diving skill demonstrations, teaching practice, and a written final exam. The prerequisites for joining the instructor course are:
- 18 years of age
- PADI Advanced Mermaid™ certification
- Valid CPR and first aid training
- A physician-signed medical release for diving

PADI® courses with Mer-divers
All student-level courses include:
- Insurance for the duration of your course dives
- Use of a tail and monofin from Mer-divers’ collection, if you don’t have your own tail yet

PADI Mermaid™ Program
PADI Discover Mermaid Experience™
A mermaiding try-dive is an easy and safe way to experience swimming with a tail. You don’t need to know how to swim or dive as the session takes place in a pool shallow enough to stand. The Experience consists of a short online study module and pool practice. Duration: 1 hour. Minimum age: 6 years. Price: 110 €.
PADI Basic Mermaid™
The PADI Mermaid training program begins with the Basic course. This is a compact yet effective package of theory and water skills that covers everything you need in order to start the hobby. It also provides a solid foundation for learning more advanced skills in the follow-up courses. No prior experience with diving or monofin swimming is required, so everyone who’s interested in mermaiding is welcome! Prerequisites: ability to swim 25 meters on the surface and float for 3 minutes without aids. Minimum age: 6 years.The course includes theory lesson, eLearning materials, and one pool session. Total duration: approx. 3.5 hours. Price: 200 €.
PADI Mermaid™
The Mermaid course is perfect for anyone who’s really interested in mermaiding. You can start your mermaiding journey here without any prior experience if you take it as a combo course together with the Basic course. You can also do it as a follow-up to a previously completed Basic course in which case it’s called the Mermaid Upgrade course. You’ll practice a variety of tricks, refine your diving technique, and use freediving exercises to safely improve your breath-holding skills. Prerequisites: ability to swim 50 meters without aids and float for 5 minutes. Minimum age: 10 years. The course includes eLearning materials, theory lesson, and two pool sessions. Duration: approx. 8 hours (or 5 hours if you’ve already completed the Basic course). Price: Mermaid course 415 € / Mermaid Upgrade 315 €.
PADI Advanced Mermaid™
This course is a must if you want to embark into natural bodies of water or if you just want to learn more about diving safety and different environments. The Advanced course is also a stepping stone for those aiming to become a Mermaid Instructor. The prerequisite is a PADI Mermaid certification and the ability to swim 100 meters and float for 10 minutes without swimming aids. Minimum age 12 years. The course includes eLearning materials and two diving sessions. Duration: approx 4 hours. Price: 285 €.
PADI Mermaid Instructor™
Are you ready to spread the joy of mermaiding and be a role model for the next wave of mermaid divers? On the Instructor course you’ll refine your skills upto demonstration quality, learn how to teach all of the student-level PADI Mermaid courses and you’ll get coaching on how to live out your dreams as a mermaid entrepreneur. Minimum age 18 years. Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Mermaid certification, a valid EFR primary and secondary care training (no older than 24 months) and a medical clearance for diving signed by a physician (no older than 12 months). The Mermaid Instructor course lasts for 3-4 days. Price 1500 €, does not include the PADI instructor application fee (approx. 65 €).
Required Equipment for Courses
- Mask and snorkel
- Bi-fins suitable for freediving
- Monofin and a mermaid tail
- Freediving weight belt and weights in small increments
- Approppriate exposure protection
You may borrow a monofin and a tail from Mer-divers’ selection. I have a limited supply of other items on the list available as well. Please inquire about rental gear as you sign up for a course. The students of Mer’divers a re also eliquible for discounts at certain dive equipment stores! I’m happy to help you choose your gear so that it’ll be suitable for mermaid diving.
